About us

Author, creator, and founder of Captain Kimchi, Alex Yun is a Los Angeles–based Korean American artist. All graphical retendering are committed to 80's 90's pen and paper animations without any digital alterations. 

The original characters of Captain Kimchi: Galactic Space Patrol were created in 2014 while Alex was living along the East Coast for graduate school and professional work.

In 2025, Alex began publishing illustrated books and multimedia content built around the quirky, flavorful universe of Captain Kimchi. His mission is simple: to bring humor, wonder, and culturally playful storytelling to audiences of all ages.

All artwork is created by hand, honoring the charm of traditional animation and illustration that has faded in the digital age. Through this series, Alex blends American pop-culture influences with Korean perspectives—paying homage to both heritages.
